Poetry: Power Grab by Ben Nardolilli
Power Grab
by Ben Nardolilli
To anyone who listens, here is your normal news for the week:
another stimulus fails to go far enough, swords and viruses
get all the membership benefits you thought you had,
outrageous? Yes, will it be enough
to flip North Carolina? Only time will tell when time runs out,
even though you deserve so much more, however,
last night’s big win remains, and you still have a body
to take care of while it’s high time at home,
which is fun, a chance to explore the kind of God you are.
Unlike in the afterlife, from what we have been able to discern,
remember, no matter what happens, you’ll never
be able to block your data from hackers when you pass on,
focus on those things you can control instead,
such as the media’s commitment to stop spreading lies
while the rest of us sit in silence, needing support at midnight
